Dear Friends:
It is hard to believe that summer has come and gone and our hallways are bustling with students. As I look forward to the coming year, I would be remiss if I did not first thank all of our many benefactors for their generous financial support of Cheverus last year.

It was a record year for us despite the troubling economic times. We received our second largest planned giving gift ever in the estimated final amount of $975,000. We have received many inquiries from alumni and friends regarding how to remember Cheverus through a planned giving gift.
It was also a banner year for alumni activities. We had record numbers of alumni/ae attending our socials throughout the country, at on-campus alumni events, here for our Golden Graduates weekend, and attending our sporting and extra-curricular events.
We have had some staff changes in the department this past year as well. Mike St. John, our Alumni Director, was accepted into an educational management program at Duke University and relocated there with his family a few weeks ago. We wish Mike all of the best and thank him for his work here at Cheverus.
We have worked diligently on improving our data base by updating all of our records. Please continue to keep us informed of address changes, including e-mail as well as with what is happening in your lives. Your classmates are always anxious to hear about you. Please send us a short note, pictures, clippings—we’ll include the news in the Class Notes section of Cheverus Today magazine. Don’t let your class be the only one unrepresented!
We established a Cheverus site on Facebook as a way to reach out to you. We have also started working with LinkedIn to serve as a professional networking opportunity for Cheverus graduates.
Thanks to the commitment of many of you to the school, Cheverus continues to develop young men and women to be persons for others. Yet, we must continue to do more. We need to grow the Cheverus Fund, our annual giving campaign. We also need to generate earlier pledge commitments so we can plan ahead.
We have many exciting events over the next several months, some of which are listed on the calendar. I hope as many of you as possible can join us for Homecoming on Saturday, October the 3rd. Our football team is off to a great start. Following the 12:30 p.m. game against Kennebunk, we will host an all-class reception in the Sparta Alumni Room with beverages and snacks and lots of Cheverus camaraderie.
I look forward to seeing you at a future event,
Brian L. Dudley
