The Cheverus Alumni Association

Cheverus is currently developing an Alumni Association to provide a forum for its alumni to impact the focus and direction of alumni activities as well as to provide a link between the present students at the school and alumni.  Its primary goal is to perpetuate the friendships made at Cheverus and to retain, increase and sustain the relationship between alumni and Cheverus.

The Association will work very hard to meet the needs of all its graduates by sponsoring a wide range of events.  It’s Board and members will be comprised of alumni who are passionate about Cheverus and the education they received here.

If you would like to be a part of this groundbreaking fellowship of Cheverians, please contact Mike St. John, Director of Alumni Affairs,
at the Alumni Office at (207) 774-6238, ext. 44.

Role
The role of the Cheverus High School Alumni Association is to maintain and sustain alumni involvement in programs and activities, to advance the school’s reputation, to assist in securing financial resources which support the mission of the school and to provide spiritual and community service opportunities for alumni.

Member Profiles:  Board of Governors, Decade Representatives and Class Agents

Board of Governors.  Membership on the Board should be a privilege and a reward for work undertaken on behalf of CHS. The Board member should have demonstrated leadership among his peers and committed his time in some volunteer effort on behalf of the school.

The Association Board meets three times per year and members are asked to attend at least half of the meetings. Meetings are typically held in late August, mid-February and mid-May and members:

  • Advance the efforts and promote the welfare of Cheverus through active involvement and participation in the Alumni Association.
  • Communicate alumni needs to the Director of Alumni.
  • Plan and promote chosen alumni programs and events throughout the year.

Decade Representatives.  Decade Representatives act as a liaison between Class Agents and the Board and will communicate to

it class issues, questions, opportunities and concerns within their respective decade.  Decade Representatives can also be Class Agents.

Class Agents.  Class Agents are the primary contact between fellow class members and the Association and School.  Class Agents:

      • Keep classmates posted on upcoming Alumni and Development Office activities and events.
      • Keep classmates informed about one another through the Alumni Notes section published in Cheverus Today magazine.
      • Assist with a class networking program
      • Find lost/missing/out-of-touch alumni.
      • Contact other classmates, friends, siblings, family members and business associates of lost alumni for information.
      • Raise attendance at school-sponsored events.
      • Update Alumni and Development Offices with news concerning their fellow classmates.
      • Assist the Development Office with fundraising.
