APPENDIX H

Varsity Letter Requirements
Under Revision 2003-2004

The head coach and staff, in consultation with the athletic administrator, will determine letter winners. Within one week of the end of the season, coaches will submit their list of letter winners to the Athletic Office.

In all sports, the athlete must complete the season as a squad member in good standing. In addition, you must meet the following criteria by sport:

Baseball – Must have been chosen for the varsity team. Those players moving between junior varsity and varsity must have played a majority of their games at varsity level. Participated in 50% of the innings played (pitcher excepted).

Track – Varsity letter awarded on a point system. Scoring and participating in the meets can earn points. Score a minimum of 10 points indoor and 15 points outdoors. Score points in the league championship or state meets.

Cross Country – Runners in cross-country can earn their varsity letters by being one of the top ten varsity runners.

Football – Must participate (play) in 20 varsity quarters. Any senior who has participated two years will automatically letter.

Golf – Player must be on the starting seven (7) squad for a minimum of seven conference matches or start for one half of the season’s matches or tournaments. Match participant in the State Tournament.

Tennis – Must have played in one-half of the regularly scheduled matches. Exhibitions not included. Participate in the State Tournament.

Soccer – Must have participated in a minimum of 50% of the quarters.

Softball – Must have been chosen for the varsity team. Those players moving between junior varsity and varsity must have played a majority of their games at varsity level. Participated in 50% of the innings played (pitcher excepted).

Basketball – Must play in one half of all quarters’ possible during the regular season. Any senior participating for at least two years will automatically letter. Participate in State Tournament.

Swimming – Must accumulate 75 points or more from attendance at practice, participation in meets, and scoring in meets.

Hockey – Must have played in at least 50% of games played. Play in the State Tournament.

Lacrosse – Must have played in at least 50% of games played. Play in the State Tournament.

Skiing - to be determined

Field Hockey – Must have played in at least 50% of games played. Play in the State Tournament.

NOTE: Managers shall provide two consecutive years of faithful service. Injured/ill athletes may receive a varsity letter. This determination is at the discretion of the varsity coach and athletic administrator.

Seniors, not satisfying the above, may receive a letter for two or more consecutive years of faithful service. Athletes must satisfy all team and training guidelines to be considered to a varsity letter.
