Junior Achievement inspires and prepares young people to succeed in a global economy!

High School Programs

The High School Program strives to help students develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to become productive citizens and workers.

As high school students begin to position themselves for their future, there are many unanswered questions about what lies ahead.  Junior Achievement's high school programs help students make informed, intelligent decisions about their future and fosters skills that will be highly useful in the business world.
JA volunteers bring real-life business experience and guidance into the classroom at a time that represents an essential crossroads for young people.

JA Titan - (9th through 12th Grade)
A
Titan™ Challenge places high school students in the CEO’s seat and increases their understanding of the real world of business. Young entrepreneurs are taught in an engaging way about the nuances of running a global business in a competitive, high-tech marketplace.

Students are given complete control to manage and operate their own virtual business.  Success depends on how well they manage their company’s key decisions such as:

  • How much money to spend on research and development
  • What new innovations to add to their product
  • How to price their product
  • What to spend on marketing and how it affects sales
  • Making recommendations for capital investment based on set parameters
  • How much to produce and how it affects price, sales and profit.

Companies (high school teams) are challenged to outperform the competition in profit, sales, and market share.  Business decisions made on-line during the competition impact and are impacted by other companies in the industry.

In preparation for the Titan™  Challenge, students take part in a 7 week program.

JA Titan enhances students’ learning of the following concepts and skills:

Concepts–Business management, Capital investment, Charitable giving, Demographics, Fixed costs, Four P’s of Marketing, Law of diminishing returns, Marketing, Marketing research, Price, Product life cycle, Production, Research and development, Target marketing, Variable costs
