-Mission-
Live: to live out the gospel message & to work with and for the underprivileged
Learn: to learn about the complex reality of Global Poverty with a concentration on Haiti
Solidarity: to find ways to be in solidarity with our sister school in Haiti
Awareness: to create awareness of Global Poverty in the wider school community and beyond
Opportunity: to provide students with opportunities to serve in developing countries
-About the Club-
The Haiti Solidarity Club offers students a chance to reflect on conditions of global poverty and injustice and to find concrete ways to promote justice, especially but not exclusively in Haiti. This is not a charity club or a social activist boot camp. The aim of this club is to expose students to Haitian people, culture and issues in order to learn about the real structures of injustice in our world. Fundraising and collecting supplies or other resources is an important part of our work, but it is only one part of the club’s mission.
Any Cheverus student is welcome to join the club!
Meetings are usually held on Wednesdays. We have roughly two to three meetings per month.
