(Portland, ME) Cheverus Alumna on Fundraising Mission: The 3 Peaks in 3 Weeks Challenge
Cheverus alumna Kaitlyn Oddy ’08 of Kennebunk, Maine, will be participating in The 3 Peaks 3 Weeks Challenge. The Challenge is an annual all-female climbing event which aims to summit three of Africa’s highest peaks in three weeks, raising money and awareness for the three key issues currently facing Africa: environment, education and health.
To raise funds for her participation in The Challenge, Kaitlyn is hosting a pancake breakfast on Saturday, June 12th from 8-11 a.m. at St. Pius on Ocean Avenue. Please mark your calendars to support this wonderful cause…and enjoy a tasty breakfast.
The Challenge’s climbs of Mt. Kenya, Mt. Meru and Mt. Kilimanjaro aim to raise awareness for these important issues and to support and encourage grassroots community organizations in Kenya and Tanzania who are focused on environmental, educational and health development.
3 Peaks 3 Weeks is organized in partnership with Save the Rhino International. SRI collects and distributes raised funds on behalf of 3 Peaks 3 Weeks to the three pre-selected organizations in Africa and assist with event management and logistics.
3 Peaks 3 Weeks is about dedication, motivation and inspiring individuals to climb higher and push harder for Africa's future than they ever thought possible.
“I will be joining 11 other women in January of 2011, as we come together to climb 3 mountains in Africa,” writes Kaitlyn. “By donating you will be supporting one of the greatest challenges of a life time. Your support and donations not only gives the team strength and determination to complete the journey ahead of us, but also changes the lives of those who reside in Africa. Please help us make a difference.”
