Cheverus High School’s athletic program is designed to further the educational development of young men and women through participation. We at Cheverus believe that the competition, camaraderie, loyalty and respect for others experienced in athletics will serve as a foundation for each student’s continued growth and life-long learning experience. It is our hope to maintain a program that is sound in purpose, reflects the Goals and Objectives of Cheverus, furthers each student’s educational maturity and health and contributes to school spirit and morale.

Freshman Football Information
Preseason: Week 1:
Monday 8/24:  
Players will need to be at Cheverus at 2:15pm to meet Coach Soule and Coach Chasse.  Introductions, welcome and housekeeping.  Players are to meet inside on the indoor track and coaches will meet you there at 2:15pm.  Parents: when dropping off, use the back parking lot (by the baseball field) and your sons can use the back entrance;  this is the easiest entrance to get to the indoor track.  Practice will be 3pm-5pm.
Tuesday 8/25 
Practice today will be in the morning and I will have a confirmed time for your sons after practice on Monday.
Wednesday 8/26
practice- 3pm-5pm.
Thursday 8/27:
practice 3pm-4:30pm
Meet the Stags- 6:15-7:30pm-  Meet the Stags is a Cheverus Football Program- Freshman through Senior introduction of Varsity and JV players, Staff, parents and your first time to connect yourselves with the Cheverus Football program.  It is asked that all players and parents attend.
Friday 8/28:
Practice 3pm-5pm
Other information:
1) Players should be at the school 30 min prior to practice unless a different time is requested.  We practice at Payson Park so players need to make sure they give themselves enough time to get ready and walk down to Payson, prior to the start of practice.  
2) Impact Testing:  This week or next week players need to be impact tested.  Impact testing is a test that our Athletic training staff have your sons complete their freshman and junior year prior to the season starting.
Impact Testing times: Monday-Thursday, (August 24 -August 26)10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm

3) Players will need shorts, tshirt, cleats and sneakers each day for practice.  All required equipment will be issued to all players.

Schedule for Monday August 17 - Wednesday - August 19

Important Reminder: "Start" times listed below indicates when you should be on the field, boots on and ready to start try-outs. "Start" time does not mean when you should be pulling into the parking lot.

Monday 8/17 - Morning Session - 7 am - 9 am
Monday 8/17 - Evening Session - 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

At the morning session Team Liaisons will have a table set-up with important season information. If you are driving your son to Session #1 please make sure you stop at the table to sign in and get information. For players that are driving themselves, please make sure you also stop at the table, sign in and pick up information. Completed forms are due back at the evening session on Monday. A table will be set-up and available starting at 6:45 A.M. Please make sure your son arrives with a soccer ball, cleats, sneakers and plenty of fluid. It is important to hydrate and eat properly between to morning session and evening session.

Tuesday 8/18 - Evening session ONLY 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Wednesday 8/19 - Evening session ONLY 5:30 pm - 7:40 pm

At the end of the evening session on Wednesday August 19, teams will be announced for Freshmen, JV and Varsity. Specific training schedules for the remainder of preseason will be distributed by team. We will post each team's training schedule on this page. Team and group picture will be taken at 7:30 p.m.

ALL team BBQ and Parent Meeting on Friday, August 21. Location: Boulos Staduim, Cheverus High School. Parent Meeting at 5:30 pm. Parent and Player BBQ will start at 6:00 pm (ish) If it is raining we will still have the BBQ, but eat inside in the Senior Café. The Senior Café is located in the Main School Building. If the weather cooperates we will hold the BBQ near the concession stand. Please bring a chair and/or blanket to sit on.

The Boys Soccer Program will provide Hamburgers and Hot Dogs, condiments and paper products. We would ask parents to supply side dishes, salads, drinks and desserts (potluck style).

Below is a breakdown of items needed, by last name:

A-G - Side Dish or Salad
H-M - Dessert
N-Z - Drinks (and a cooler to keep them in)

Please contact Nicole Hoglund at or Deb Deatrick at to volunteer to help with set-up, cooking or clean-up. Set-up will start at 4:45 pm. At 5:30 pm we will all attend the parent meeting. A few "grillers" will start grilling at 5:30 pm.
