A Message Regarding our School Uniform for 2023-2024

May 01, 2023
By John Moran, Ed.D.

Dear Cheverus Community,

We have entered the final stretch of weeks and days in our school year! The days are getting longer and longer, spring sports are well underway, and our seniors have begun their Arrupe Projects. It’s a time of year when we begin planning for the 2023-2024 school year even as we look forward to all of the ways we will celebrate and close out this school year.

I’m writing to inform you about some updates to our school uniform for the upcoming school year. As any Cheverus student will tell you, we take our dress code quite seriously; it’s a part of our culture and our identity. Even students who resist the idea of wearing a uniform initially will often admit that it brings a consistency and equity to our community that can free students from worrying about what to wear and allow them to focus on their school work. As teachers and administrators, we believe that our dress code also brings a level of professionalism and safety to our hallways - it’s always easy to spot a Cheverus student when they’re in uniform!

That said, every dress code needs evaluating and updating at times, and over the past few months we have partnered with School Uniform by Tommy Hilfiger to explore some uniform options that would give us even more consistency at a greater value to our families. You can visit www.globalschoolwear.com to find our school store using the school code: CHEV01. You can also click here for a PDF of instructions on how to order, and you can sign up for their newsletter to get sale information sent right to your inbox: https://www.globalschoolwear.com/emailsignup

As you begin to prepare (and shop) for the upcoming school year, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Beginning with the start of school in August, any items listed as “Meets Requirement” will fulfill our dress code requirements. Items listed as “Optional” are intended to add variety, warmth and comfort to the base level of the dress code.
  • In conjunction with our annual Blazer Bazaar, our representatives from School Uniform by Tommy Hilfiger will host a sizing event on Thursday, June 8 after exams. This will give students and families an opportunity to see, feel and try on our new uniform options.
  • Plan to purchase items during the Cheverus-specific Summer Promotion: June 19-25. Stay tuned for more details about the types of savings we’ll be offering.

In this New Uniform Requirements FAQ, we’ve tried to anticipate as many of your questions in advance as possible, but any transition will bring comments and questions which cannot be anticipated and we welcome these. Please feel free to contact me or Dan Costigan directly if you have any questions.

Peace,
John Moran, Ed.D.
