Dear Cheverus Community Members,
It is with great sadness that we share that our colleague, custodian Mark E. Smith, is battling cancer. Mark has been a valued member of our Cheverus family for more than two years and has worked closely with many of our students who participate in the Work-Study program.
Those with advance knowledge of Mark’s diagnosis have asked how they can help. In this, of all moments, let’s live out the Jesuit motto “people for and with others.” Let’s join as a community to raise funds for Mark and his family.
We hope you will join us at:

Father Bob will serve as lead guitarist for a faculty/staff/student band, and guide us through a high-energy and eclectic playlist. We’ll have pizza, refreshments, and games. The event is free to attend, but we encourage those with the capacity to donate onsite via cash, credit card or check. The students will have a dress down day that same day; all proceeds to benefit our efforts. Mark is hoping that he will feel well enough to join us!
We strongly encourage all students, faculty, staff and community members to stop by, if only to take in the sensory experience of watching your teachers and colleagues riffing on Poison and Springsteen. As an added incentive, every dollar raised from our efforts will go directly to Mark’s family.

Questions (or requests to join the band!) can be directed to Christine Martin '07, Director of Special Events & Corporate Relations.

For those who may not be able to join in person but still want to support our efforts, please use the form below to make your gift securely online.
