Local teams out to fast start-Portland edition
Football: Cheverus’ Nick Hutton races through the Massabesic defense during the Stags’ 43-6 home win Saturday.
Boys Soccer: Cheverus started with a 2-1 loss at Kennebunk. Jack Mullen scored for the Stags. Cheverus hosts Falmouth Tuesday
Girls Soccer: Cheverus’ girls’ soccer team started with a 2-0 home win over Kennebunk, behind goals from Helena Bolduc and Julia Kratzer.
Field Hockey: Cheverus’ highly-touted field hockey team begins its regular season Wednesday at home versus Kennebunk
Volleyball: Cheverus opens its season Tuesday at home versus Biddeford.
Cross Country: Cheverus hosted Deering, Kennebunk, Noble and Westbrook in a regular season-opening cross country meet last week.
Golf: Cheverus started with an 11-2 victory over Portland. Jeremy Baker (35) was the medalist.
Cheverus High School’s athletic and activities program is designed to further the educational development of young men and women through participation. We at Cheverus believe that the competition, camaraderie, loyalty, and respect for others experienced in athletics and activities will serve as a foundation for each student’s continued growth and life-long learning experience. It is our hope to maintain a program that is sound in purpose, reflects the Goals and Objectives of Cheverus, furthers each student’s educational maturity and health and contributes to school spirit and morale.
