2019 season recap

The 2019 Cheverus softball team, who Co-oped with North Yarmouth Academy ended the season 8-8, ending with a trip to the playoffs. The team comprised of 6 NYA athletes, and 13 Cheverus athletes, came together as one unit to garner a lot of team success over the course of two months. The stags proved to be a large threat at the plate producing 21 Home Runs and scoring a total of 115 runs over the season. It was the Stags defense that helped to hold strong opponents. From winning the first two games, taking a trip down to Boston University to watch D1 softball, scavenger hunts, intrasquad competitions, to volunteering at Girls on the Run, the players have been able to grow both on the field and off. Very proud of the effort and commitment the girls have given over our very rainy and cold season.

2019 Season Recap

The girl's tennis team had a strong regular season and finished with a record of 10-2. In the post season, the we made  it to the semi finals for the first time since 2013. The team was led by Senior Captain Anastasia Kapothanasis and Junior Captain Kristina Matkevich. Both athletes qualified for the State Singles Tournament. Anastasia made it to the round of 8 and fell to the eventual state runner-up. Julia Ryan rounded out the singles players and finished the season 13-1 at #3. The doubles teams were led by the experience of senior Audrey Byrne and Sophomore Lily Paszyc. Cosima Curran and Kelly Gleysteen, both freshman, stepped into the starting lineup and made a significant impact on the success of our doubles. We are excited for the future with the depth of this program and a handful of girls that are ready to step right into one of the seven starting spots.

2019 Season Recap

The 2019 Cheverus Boys' Lacrosse program experienced a lot of growth and character revealing this season. That growth included Varsity and JV wins against Sanford, Messalonskee, and more. Beyond wins and losses the Stags focused on the pillars of their program; Trust, Preparation, Courage, and Communication. Our young men also did their part for community service and giving back by volunteering for the Make-A-Wish, Walk-4-Wishes event in Portland.

Overall it was a successful year for the program and with a strong core of players coming back for the 2020 season the future is bright for the Cheverus Stags.
