Fr. Martin Speaking at Cheverus
Fr. James Martin, SJ, noted Jesuit author and speaker, to present talk at Cheverus.
Encountering Jesus: what does it mean to say that Jesus is fully human and fully divine?
Fr. James Martin, S.J., author of several books, including Jesus: A Pilgrimage will invite you to meditate on what it means for us to encounter the "Jesus of history" and the "Christ of faith."
Fr. Martin will join us from New York City via a Skype connection at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17, in the Keegan Gymnasium. There will be an opportunity for audience members to ask Fr. Martin questions following his presentation. Ms. Mary King, a member of the theology department at Cheverus, who recently took part in a pilgrimage to the Holy Land led by Fr. Martin, will be on hand to help facilitate the discussion. The evening will conclude with a social gathering in which refreshments will be served.
Fr. Martin is a member of the Jesuit Northeast US Province, noted commentator, author and Editor-at-Large of America magazine. His talk is part of the Jesuit Spirituality Initiative, an ongoing series of talks and other opportunities to address areas of faith and contemporary life, particularly from the perspective of the Ignatian spiritual vision. The Initiative is sponsored by the Jesuit Community of Maine, Cheverus High School, and Our Lady of Hope Parish, Portland.
