Cheverus Welcomes Four New Faculty and Staff Members

Welcome to our newest faculty and staff members!

Reggie Hackleman will be joining our Mathematics Department. Most recently Reggie spent two years teaching Math at Sun Valley Community School in Sun Valley, Idaho. Prior to her adventures out west, Reggie was the Mathematics Department Chair at North Yarmouth Academy and taught Upper School Mathematics there for 14 years. Reggie has a BA in Mathematics from SUNY Geneseo with a minor in Computer Science and a Masters in Mathematics Education from Boston University. When not teaching Reggie enjoys mountain biking, trail running, yoga, and cooking. Reggie and her family are excited to return to Portland this summer, and she is looking forward to joining the Cheverus community.

 

Aaron Mooney will join us as a School Counselor and member of the Student Support Services team.  Aaron brings 16 years of experience as a high school counselor and college admission professional.  Before moving to Maine, he spent time at Scarsdale High School in New York and Bishop Chatard High School in Indiana. Aaron is an Indiana native and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Evansville and master's degree from Indiana University. 

 

Valerie Murken will join our staff as a full-time teacher of Spanish. Valerie has spent the last nine years teaching both Spanish and English as a Second Language to students from grades K-12. Valerie has worked as a language teacher and ski coach in Spain, Colorado, and New Jersey. She comes to us from Ridge High School, in Basking Ridge, NJ, where she has taught ESL and Spanish for six years. Valerie earned a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies at American University, and recently completed her master's degree in Language Education at Rutgers University. 


Born and raised in Maine, Anne Theriault is delighted to return to her home state and join the Theology department at Cheverus after living in the Boston area for 18 years.  A graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and Boston College, Anne served with the Jesuit Volunteers Corps in Nepal before completing her M.Div. degree. She spent over a decade on the faculty at Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart, teaching Religion, directing service initiatives, and supporting campus ministry. More recently, she’s enjoyed leading Ignatian retreats at Holy Cross and accompanying Catholic students at Bowdoin.
