The Great Ignatian Challenge - 2022

October 17, 2022
By Office of Communications

Today marks the start of our much-loved and long-running Key Club Turkey Drive! This year, through the efforts of our Turkey Drive, we will also join 18 other Jesuit high schools in The Great Ignatian Challenge. Fordham Prep alumnus Jim Rowen, inspired by the Jesuit mission of being “women and men for others,” initiated the Challenge by pledging thousands of dollars to support participating schools in their Thanksgiving food drives. The Challenge highlights the collective service power and generosity among the participating Jesuit high schools. Since 2016, the Challenge participation has grown to 18 schools that have collected over 937,000 pounds of food for distribution across local area food banks, community centers, and aid organizations.

This year, the Key Club encourages each student to bring what they can.

Each senior is encouraged to bring in the following:

5 boxes of pudding/pie filling
5 boxes of pie crust

Each junior is encouraged to bring in the following:

5 cans of carrots
5 cans of green beans

Each sophomore is encouraged to bring in the following:

5 cans of corn
5 cans of gravy

Each freshman  is encouraged to bring in the following:

5 cans of cranberry sauce
5 boxes of stuffing

Students are asked to bring the canned goods to their homeroom at the beginning of the day. The goal this year is to deliver 400 boxes of Thanksgiving meals to local families in need.
