Emma Tweed has been named valedictorian of the Cheverus High School Class of 2022. She will deliver an address at graduation on Monday, June 6 at Merrill Auditorium.
While at Cheverus, Tweed was a four-year member of the Math Team and captained her senior year. She was a member of the Key Club for three years and served as treasurer her senior year. She served as an Admissions Ambassador all four years, and attended the Ignatian Family Teach-in her senior year. Tweed was inducted into the National Honor Society, was named the Undergraduate of the Year, and received the Harvard Book Prize and Phi Beta Kappa Award her junior year. She was named an AP Scholar with distinction, a National Merit Finalist, a United States Presidential Scholars Program Semifinalist, and will graduate with a STEM distinction.
Tweed was a four-year member of the soccer team, playing varsity her junior and senior years, a three-year member of the varsity hockey team, and was a member of the varsity softball team her freshman year.
Outside of school, she is an active volunteer in the community, serving monthly at Preble Street and is an active member of the All Saints Parish in Brunswick, where she is a volunteer lector, youth minister, and member of the teen band.
Tweed is the daughter of Marie Barbieri of Brunswick. She will attend the College of the Holy Cross and plans to major in mathematics with a statistics or computer science minor.

Samantha Heinzman has been named salutatorian of the Cheverus High School Class of 2022. She will deliver an address at the Senior Awards Ceremony, immediately following the Baccalaureate Mass on Sunday, June 5 at Cheverus High School.
While at Cheverus, Heinzman was a three-year member of the World Language Club, served as vice president her junior year and president her senior year. She was a three-year member of the Math Team and captained her senior year. She was also a member of Best Buddies her junior year. She served as a sophomore retreat leader and as a senior, she was a rector of a Kairos retreat.
Heinzman was inducted into the National Honor Society her junior year, was named an AP Scholar with distinction, received the Rensselaer Medal her junior year, was a United States Presidential Scholars Program candidate, and will graduate with a STEM distinction.
Heinzman was a three-year member of the indoor and outdoor track and field teams and served as a captain her senior year. She was a three-year member of the varsity field hockey team and joined the varsity cross country team her senior year. She was a member of the ultimate frisbee team her senior year.
Outside of school, she is an active volunteer at her church serving in children’s ministry.
Heinzman is the daughter of Jack and Elizabeth Heinzman of Falmouth. She will attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and plans to double major in nuclear and mechanical engineering.
The 104th commencement exercises for Cheverus High School in Portland were held Monday, June 6, at 6 p.m. at Merrill Auditorium.
The 2022 valedictorian at Cheverus is Emma Tweed, who will attend the College of Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. The salutatorian is Samantha Heinzman, who will be heading to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.
